Barcelona A Spanish City Holiday that will Entrance and Entertain
If you love to travel then you will no doubt have seen many of the travel programs on TV that often declare Barcelona as one of the must visit locations of the world. In fact, Barcelona often comes in at number 1 when shows run down their top 10 city breaks.
Having experienced it for myself, I can happily concur with all the travel experts who rate this amazing Spanish city so highly. It really is a place like no other!
It is very hard to sum Barcelona up in just a few words, because it offers so very much, but if I had to choose just one word to define the capital of Catalonia it would be, Alive!
One of those cities that seem to offer a little bit of everything, especially when considering holidays, with plenty of beach resorts nearby and plenty of hotels and holiday properties to rent within the city itself, there really is something for everyone.
There is plenty of world famous sightseeing to be done in Barcelona if this is what you enjoy, including the dramatic and yet still unfinished Sagrada Familia, the Gaudi masterpiece that towers into the blue Barcelona sky. For architecture lovers there are plenty of other fascinating Gaudi inspired buildings to track down too.
For sports fans, the Camp Nou stadium is a must see, an amphitheatre for soccer and the home of mighty and perhaps currently best soccer team in the world FC Barcelona where legends of the sport both past and present have plied their trade.
The majestic mountains and monastery of Montserrat are just a short day trip away and well worth a visit if you want a day away from the city.
However, perhaps it is the city streets themselves that really make Barcelona such an enticing place to visit. In the summer months especially, the sultry night air seems to add an extra level of flavour to an already tasty experience. Music hangs in the air as skilful street musicians and exotic flamenco dancers hypnotise and seduce passersby. Crowds gather and that word I mentioned earlier strikes home…this place is alive!
I really have only scratched the surface here, there is enough to see and do in Barcelona to consider multiple holidays and to enjoy all it has to offer, and the great news is that there are holiday properties to rent right in the heart of the city, so that all that life is only a few footsteps away!
